Having a doula - beginning to end
Searching for a doula
- I always host a non-binding meeting either at my home clinic in Trekroner or at your home. Here we discus the support, care and needs you imagine and I’ll tell you about my approach and what I can offer you. After the meeting you’ll have some time to make a decision whether I’m the right person to invite in your birth space.
PREGNANCY
- Depending on which doula support from me you choose, there will be 1 – 3 meetings in the pregnancy with a duration of 2 hours. We will get to know each other deeper and we will dig into your wishes for the birth, birth preparation, partner support, worries and more. We have enough time, which gives you the opportunity to really express your needs, figure out what you want and receive the care and support to make you feel safe.
BIRTH
- As a doula I am with you throughout your labour and birth. When you go into labour you call me, when needed. Here I will support you in keeping your focus and stay in your body. I’ll support your partner with both their needs, but also to support you and can in no way be a substitute for them. I’ll be a mental as well as a physiological support, helping you with movement through your labour and with positions to help babys journey out earth side. I am also practical help with water, food, going to the toilet. I work with movement, affirmations, rebozo, acupuncture and most importantly continuously support and care and the fact that we have already build a trusting relationship. I will help you advocate for your choices and translate for you if needed as well. I’m helping you and your partner into unity during this time, so you go through this experience stronger than ever. I can also shoot photos and record the birth. I am at your side, as a life witness for the biggest transition and moment in your life.
POST-PARTUM
- I’ll come to visit you 1 – 2 times after you have giving birth. We will talk about your experience and how you are and feel. If you need help with breastfeeding or the bottle I can help you with this. I can make a print of the placenta, here you will have to keep the placenta (often I do this directly after the birth). The meetings are in the manner and speed that you wish and you should not have anything ready for me. The first 14 days after the birth, you can call and text me however much you need. When I have visited you the last time, our journey together is in this setting is ended.
